Pinned-Up Workshop, Detroit

November 30, 2011

Just back from the awesome Motor City! I had a great time with one of my Pinned-Up workshops. This time, I borrowed the studio of my good friend, Kelly Scaccia. We had four great models and had a blast!

These are my favorite portraits created during the workshop.

For info on arranging a workshop at your studio, see my training site:

Erin – Portland Pin-Up Photography

April 17, 2011

Erin came to me wanting a cute pin-up, so that hubby could take it to a tattoo artist and have her forever engraved on his arm!! Of course!!

I’m waiting to hear that he’s had it done and I’d love him to pop to the studio so that I can create a new awesome portrait of him and his new tattoo.

No Limits: Portland. Photography workshop debrief

April 3, 2009

Along with a series of tools to help the modern pin-up photographer that I’m working on (more details coming soon!) I’ve also begun to teach pin-up photography and recently held the first of several workshops this year at my studio. This was a 2 day seminar held in conjunction with Andy Armstrong from Knoxville. I’ve known Andy for sometime, and helped him beta test his awesome design|house tools. We each took a day to teach aspects of boudoir, pin-up and glamour photography and post-production.

On day one, I demonstrated a full pin-up shoot then gave instruction for posing, working with models and clients, lighting and working with a make-up artist. After lunch, we moved onto post-production and I demo’d my full workflow and retouching for pin-ups.

Andy was in charge on day two. In the morning he instructed posing and lighting for relaxed glamour photography using both flash and available light. In the afternoon, he showed his full workflow and took questions about Photoshop and retouching in general, and demonstrated products from his Design|House range of tools for digital photographers, including the great new Destination Vegas pack.

Here are some shots of day one:
