Every Bombshell has a story about how she got here. Ms. J’s started with someone else’s.
A close friend – and past Portland Pin-Ups client – had come out of her own session absolutely glowing, images in hand, completely transformed. Ms. J had seen those photos and quietly thought, I’d love to do that someday. Her friend noticed, and instead of leaving it at “you should really book that,” she just… booked it for her. A gift certificate showed up, and “someday” suddenly had a date on the calendar.

Cleared for Takeoff
First stop: 1950s stewardess, “Visit Europe by Jet Clipper” glamour, right down to the little pillbox hat and the white gloves. This look is a personal favorite around the studio – there’s something about the era of air travel when flying was still an event, not a hassle, that turns every client into an instant movie star the second the hat goes on.
Hello, Sailor
From the clouds to the dock. This one’s all sass – striped top, high-waisted trousers, and a “who, me?” expression that took Ms. J about four minutes to fully commit to and then never wanted to put away.
The Diner Days
Leather jacket, polka dots, a Coke, and a hot dog she 100% earned by that point in the day. This is the look that always gets the biggest laugh on set – nobody expects how much fun you can have holding a hot dog like it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you.

Full send into classic Americana at a vintage Gulf station – the kind of shot that looks like it was pulled straight out of a 1960s road trip postcard.
Old Hollywood Glamour
And then the mood shifts entirely: black and white, dramatic lighting, and pure old-school pin-up glamour. This is usually the moment clients stop performing a character and start just being unapologetically themselves – which is exactly when the best images happen.
The Bonus Round: A Mother-Daughter Moment
Here’s the part that made this session extra special. Ms. J brought her daughter along, and the two of them got a set of portraits together – matching aprons, a very serious box of Shake ‘N Bake, and a 1950s kitchen that never actually existed anywhere except in the best possible way. It’s one thing to feel like a bombshell yourself. It’s another thing entirely to share that day with your kid and end up with something the two of you will have forever.
From “Someday” to a Finished Album
Ms. J walked out with a full custom album of artwork – not a folder of digital files, an actual heirloom collection, the kind of thing that gets pulled out and shown off for years. All from a gift certificate her friend didn’t have to think twice about giving.
